Roberto has consulted for numerous national and sub-national governments in the global south, helping them to effectively utilise resources for inclusive and equitable development initiatives. He actively collaborates with prominent financial institutions such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and CAF Latin American Development Bank. Roberto was previously a managing director at Evercore, an economist at the central bank of Mexico and an associate partner at the central bank of Mexico.
