Director General of the International, Atomic Energy Agency
Rafael Mariano Grossi has served as Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) since December 2019. An Argentine diplomat with a distinguished international career, he previously held senior leadership positions at the IAEA, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), and Argentina’s Foreign Service. Under his leadership, the IAEA has expanded its contribution to global healthcare through initiatives such as Rays of Hope, which supports improved access to cancer diagnosis and treatment, particularly radiotherapy. Mr Grossi holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.
