Anders Nordstrom
Anders Nordström is Secretary of the Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response (IPPPR) – the panel recently established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and tasked with evaluating the world’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Anders also serves as Ambassador for Global Health at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Previously, Anders was the Chief Executive Officer of SIDA, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, from January 2008 to May 2010. Prior to taking office at SIDA, he was Assistant Director-General at the World Health Organization (WHO). Anders has a strong track record in international cooperation and development: in 2003, he started working at WHO in Geneva and subsequently served as Acting Director-General from May 2006 to January 2007. Prior to this, he worked for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Geneva, for SIDA in Stockholm and Zambia, and for the Red Cross in Cambodia and Iran. Mr. Anders has also practiced as a physician. He studied medicine at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and specialized in the field of health policy and national and international health planning.
