Director for Population Health and Environment, Amref

Martin Muchangi is the Director for Population Health and Environment at Amref. He holds a master’s degree in public health and is a Doctor of Philosophy Candidate studying in the same field.  Martin has 17 years of professional experience in the Public Health, particularly in the African context. He has devoted his career to designing and implementing innovative, fit for purpose public health programs in different contexts across Africa. His expertise includes climate change, water sanitation and hygiene, neglected tropical diseases and implementation science in the same fields. His recent work has involved testing various public health financing models, economic evaluation for public health programs, market research and evaluations on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). He is a management team member of intercontinental FINISH (Financial Inclusion Improves Sanitation and Health) Mondial Program, member of International Coalition for Trachoma Control (ICTC), Neglected Tropical Diseases NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) Network (NNN) and a member of various global working groups in climate change, WASH&NTDs. 

Prior to joining Amref, Martin worked with Action Against Hunger (ACF) Medair in Switzerland PATH in Kenya and the Government of Kenya as a Public Health Officer and in the Kenyan Government serving in various positions forces in various positions.
