Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Ruddyard served as Director General, Directorate General for Multilateral Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia since 2017. He was Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Indonesia in Vienna, Austria, from 2014 to 2017. He served as an Economic Affairs Officer at the Permanent Mission of Indonesia to the United Nations in New York, United States, from 2007 to 2010. Other foreign posts that Mr. Ruddyard held include Chief Economic Affairs Officer at the Embassy of Indonesia in Canberra, Australia from 2000 to 2004; and Economic Affairs Officer at the Embassy of Indonesia in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1994. He has held numerous posts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as Deputy for Inter-ministerial Cooperation, Bureau for the Administration of the Ministry, Secretariat General in 2006; Deputy Director IV, Directorate of Asia-Pacific and African Intra and Inter-Regional Cooperation, Directorate General of Asia-Pacific and African Affairs from 2004 to 2006; Staff Analyst in the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2004; Deputy for Economic Cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Directorate of Economic Cooperation between Developing Countries; and Deputy for Economic and Socio-cultural Affairs, Directorate of Economic Cooperation between Developing Countries from 1993 to 1994.
